Images of a special edition of BMW i8 - the Protonic Red Edition have been recently released by the automaker. The new Protonic Red Edition is a celebratory model of the i8 that has been seling more than just well.
The BMW i8 in intself is a unique blend of performance car and efficiency with a top speed of 155 mph and a combined 113 mpg figure. The celebratoty BMW i8 Protonic Red Edition will be available for a limited time. The paintwork, is Protonic Red with Frozen Grey metallic accents. The wheels are also fitted. Inside, the BMW i8 Protonic Red Edition comes with red double-stitching, carbon fibre and ceramic trims.
Mechanically the special edition is the same as the standard vehicle and the special features concern only aesthetic external changes. This means that its engine produces 231 hp and 320 Nm which, when coupled with the 131 hp hybrid engine, combines for a full 357 hp. The 7.1 kWh lithium-ion battery pack allows for an electric drive time of 37 km. The chassis is made largely from carbon fibre reinforced plastic. The i8 manages a 0-62mph time of 4.4 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 155mph. Deliveries of this new cool BMW car are set to start from September.
